Dunearn's 40th Anniversary
Fund-Raising Golf Tournament 2001
 

q       Introduction :

Ø      As part of the 40th Anniversary Celebrations, Dunearn Sec School and Dunearn Secondary School Alumni will be organising a series of programmes to mark the 40-year growth and development of the school in terms of its history, achievements and progress, which includes the above fund-raising golf tournament.

q       Objectives :

Ø      In line with the Thinking Schools Learning Nation, the emphasis for Dunearn's education has been on quality teaching and learning by providing more viable and focused educational programmes for the benefit of our students.

Ø      The proceeds from the tournament will go into the School Funds allocated for various academic and non-academic programmes so that more effective programmes can be organised to challenge our pupils.  At the same time the monies raised can promote the academic profile of the school and enrich the school environment while spurring Dunearnites to aspire for greater heights. Part of the proceeds will be donated to two charitable organisations [10% each] identified by our guest players who will be Members of Parliament.

q       Aim :

Ø      It is our aim to raise $100,000 through this fund-raising project inclusive of donations.

q       Date / Time / Venue :

Ø      The tournament will be organised on 25th. May 2001 [Fri].  It will be held at the Jurong Country Club.

q       Format of Play :

Ø      The game will be played in stableford. 

Ø      There will be prizes awarded for winners. The golf tournament will end with a buffet dinner for the golfers cum prize-giving ceremony.

q       Hole-In-One Prize :

Ø     The committee will be working towards the above prize.  It may be a star cruise or an air ticket.

q       Eligibility :

Ø      The tournament will be open to all SAC, Alumni members [past and present], Ex-Pupils and Staff and Well-Wishers who would like to partake in our 40th anniversary celebrations and contribute to our fund-raising activity for the school. 

Ø      All players must have at least a handicap of 24 for men and 36 for ladies.

q       Participation :

Ø      The projected participation will be 150 for all games.

Dunearn Secondary School 40th Anniversary Alumni's Fund-Raising Golf Tournament 2001

1.       As part of the 40th Anniversary Celebrations, Dunearn Sec School and its Alumni will be organising a series of programmes to commemorate the 40-year growth and development of the school in terms of its history, achievements and progress, which includes the above fund-raising golf tournament.

2.       In line with the Thinking Schools Learning Nation, the emphasis for Dunearn's education has been on quality teaching and learning by providing more viable and focused educational programmes for the benefit of our students.  The proceeds from the tournament will go into the School Funds allocated for various academic and non-academic programmes so that more effective programmes can be organised to challenge our pupils.  At the same time the monies raised can promote the academic profile of the school and enrich the school environment while spurring Dunearnites to aspire for greater heights.  Part of the proceeds will be used to build up the existing Student Welfare Fund to take care of our financially needy pupils.

3.       The tournament will be held on 25th. May 2001 at Jurong Country Club. The programme for the event includes two games, a Social and a Corporate Game.  For the Social Game, players will have the privilege of playing with two Members of Parliament for the price of $2000 per golfer.  For the Corporate Game, each flight comprising 4 golfers will be priced at $1000.   All players must have at least a handicap of 24 for men and 36 for ladies.

4.       There will be an attractive Hole-In-One prize, a souvenir goodie bag and a buffet dinner for all participants.  Donations and sponsorships for the Dunearn souvenir goodie bags are welcome.   Details about payment will be made known to you at a later date.

5.       It is our aim to raise at least $100,000 through this fund-raising project and we would like to appeal to you for your generous support.  If you wish to participate in the tournament or would like to make donations or sponsorship, please kindly complete the attached form and indicate your interest and return the form to the Operations Manager, Mr Boh T K at Dunearn Sec School.   We wish to finalise the number participating by mid February.

Dunearn's 40th Anniversary Souvenir Magazine for the Gala Dinner & Dance 2001 

1.       The school will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary in 2001 and in conjunction with the Gala Dinner and Dance to be held at Neptune Theatre on 21 July 2001, we will be publishing a souvenir magazine to commemorate the occasion and the school's 40-year history and development. 

2.       We intend to print about 1200 copies of the magazine and we need your support and generous donations in taking up the advertisement spaces in this special magazine.  The charges are as follow:

Dunearn Cyclethon 2001
on 10 Feb 2001 (Sat) at East Coast Parkway

ã       This is yet another exciting event on 10 Feb 2001 which is the cyclethon organised to mark our 40th anniversary.  It is a fund-raising cum charity project where 30 % of the proceeds from the fund-raising will be contributed to charity.  We are in the process of identifying the homes or institutions that the school would like to contribute to.

ã       The cyclethon is also part of the FAITH 21 Programme [Fitness And Introducing Therapeutic Health 21 Programme] of the school.

ã       Every pupil and staff will be issued a donation card latest in early January to raise funds for the school. 

Ø      How you can contribute as Alumni Member! :

¨       We would like to appeal to you to take on these donation cards and help the school to raise funds for a good cause. 

¨       We would like your presence at the Cyclethon to witness the event and give moral support for our cyclists OR you may sign up with us to cycle in this event.

¨       The school is also in need of sponsors for specially designed Cyclethon T-shirts for this event.  You may consider sponsoring the T-shirts.
